மனுஸ்மிருதி 10.43. பிராமணர் களை வணங்காமையாலும் உபநயன முதலியவற்றை விட்டொழித்ததாலும் சத்திரிய ஜாதிகள் இவ்வுலகத்தில் வரவர சூத்திரத் தன்மையை அடைந்தார்கள்.
शनकैस् तु क्रियालोपादिमाः क्षत्रियजातयः ।
वृपलत्वं गता लोके ब्राह्मणाऽदर्शनेन च ॥
ஷநகைஸ்து க்ரியாலோபாதிமா: க்ஷத்ரிய ஜாதய: |
வ்ருஷலத்வம் கதா லோகே ப்ராஹ்மணா அதர்ஷநேந ச ||
But by the omission of the sacred rites, and also by their neglect of Brāhmaṇas, the following Kṣatriya castes have gradually sunk to the position of the low-born.—(43)
மனுஸ்மிருதி 10.44. பவுண்டரம், ஔண்டரம், திரவிடம், காம்போசம், யவனம், சாகம், பாரதம், பால்ஹீகம், ஷீனம், கிராதம், தரதம், கசம் இந்தத் தேசங்களை ஆண்டவர்கள் அனைவரும் மேற்சொன்னபடி சூத்திராளாய்விட்டார்கள்.
पौण्डूकाश् चौद्ध-द्रविडाः काम्बोजा यवनाः शकाः।
पारदाः पढ़वाश् चीनाः किराता दरदाः खशाः ॥
பவுண்ட்ரகாஷ் சௌட்ர த்ரவிடா: காம்போஜாயவநா: ஷகா: |
பாரதா: பஹ்ளவாஷ் சீநா: கிராதா தரதா: கஷா: ||.
Verse 10.44 of the Manusmriti (Laws of Manu) lists tribes like the Paundrakas, Chodas, Dravidas, Kambojas, Yavanas, Sakas, Pahlavas, Chinas, Kiratas, Daradas, and Khasas. It details how these originally noble Kshatriya clans gradually fell to lower societal statuses due to neglecting sacred Vedic rites and abandoning the code of conduct.-(44)
