மனுராஜ் சண்முகசுந்தரம் ‘இந்து’ நாளிதழுக்கு அளித்த பேட்டி
DMK spokesperson Manuraj Shunmugasundaram told The Hindu that the two–day conference on September 4 and 5, co–hosted by St. Antony’s College and Balliol College at the University of Oxford, was aimed at globalising the Self-Respect Movement that reshaped Tamil Nadu’s sociopolitical landscape by confronting the entrenched hierarchies of caste and gender.
The conference will bring together leading scholars and practitioners from across disciplines, and explore the continuing global relevance of self–respect as a political and ethical principle. It will place the Dravidian experience in dialogue with international movements, from civil rights and anti–apartheid struggles to contemporary mobilisation against systemic inequalities, that have sought to challenge and overturn the structures of oppression, he said.
On September 4, Mr. Stalin will launch two books that highlight the hundred–year journey of the Self–Respect Movement and its contemporary relevance in shaping society. The Chief Minister will also interact with Indian students and graduates in London on September 5, he added.
Mr. Stalin will leave for Germany on Saturday morning. Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa has already reached Germany.
On August 31, Mr. Stalin will meet DMK functionaries in the country. On September 1, he will leave for London, and visit the University of Cambridge that week. On September 4, he will be at the University of Oxford. He will take part in events hosted by the Non–Resident Tamils’ Welfare Board on September 6. He will leave London and reach Chennai on September 8.

இந்த மாநாட்டில் பல்துறைகளைச் சேர்ந்த முன்னணி அறிஞர்களும், வல்லுநர்களும் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். அரசியல் மற்றும் தத்துவ நெறிமுறையாகத் தொடரும் ‘சுயமரியாதை’க் கருத்தியலின் உலகளாவிய பொருத்தத்தை இம் மாநாடு ஆராயும். இது திராவிட அனுபவத்தை பன்னாட்டுக் குடிமை உரிமைப் போராட்டங்கள், நிறவெறிக்கு எதிரான போராட்டங்கள் முதல் இன்றைய அமைப்பு ரீதியான ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளுக்கு எதிரான சமகால அணிதிரட்டல் வரை ஒடுக்குமுறைக் கட்டமைப்புகளுக்கு அறைகூவல் விடுத்து அவற்றை தலைகீழாகப் புரட்டிப் போடும் இயக்கங்களுடன் ஒப்புநோக்கி உரையாடலை முன்வைக்கும்.
செப்டம்பர் 4 ஆம் நாள், சுயமரியாதை இயக்கத்தின் நூறு ஆண்டுப் பயணத்தையும் சமூகத்தை வடிவமைப்பதில் அதன் சமகால பொருத்தப்பாட்டையும் எடுத்துக்காட்டும் இரண்டு புத்தகங்களை முதலமைச்சர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் வெளியிடுவார். செப்டம்பர் 5 ஆம் தேதி லண்டனில் இந்திய மாணவர்களுடனும், பட்டதாரிகளுடனும் முதலமைச்சர் உரையாடுவார் என்றும் அவர் மேலும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
